Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Marseille 2022/23 season rating
In the summer of 2022, French club Marseille signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee. The Gabonese forward was known for his goal-scoring prowess and was expected to be a key player for the team in their pursuit of European success.
Aubameyang's first season with Marseille was not without its ups and downs. He scored 15 goals in all competitions, which was a decent return but far short of the 44 he had managed in his previous campaign at Arsenal. However, the forward's performances were not enough to secure him a place in the starting XI, and he struggled to find his form early on in the season.
As the season progressed, however, Aubameyang began to show glimpses of the form that had made him one of the best strikers in Europe. He scored 8 goals in the league alone, and his goalscoring ability helped to lift the morale of the team. His partnership with fellow striker Loic Remy also proved effective, as they combined to score 10 goals between them.
Despite this promising start, Aubameyang's form dipped towards the end of the season. He only managed to score two more goals in the final few months of the campaign, and his inconsistent performances cost Marseille dearly in the league title race. Despite this, Aubameyang's contribution to the team cannot be ignored, and he will undoubtedly be missed by fans of both clubs.
